…What do these two realms – upper and lower – stand in for? In collaboration, we share that lower floor; the same sensations, voices, colours that might impress upon us in a moment of working together. What distinguishes, but also connects, the upper and lower floors is this relation of inside and outside: the upper story and its multiple chambers comprise an absolute interiority, whereas below, openings allow for a contact with matter. Matter is apprehensible through substances that are the smallest units of perception. These substances each register the world and offer it as a sensible reality. They qualify our relation to the world and may become sensations.
