Still-time at Amaravati
[excerpt]
Amaravati is 80 kilometres inland from the eastern coast of India, about six hours north of Chennai by train. Scattered across a formerly productive agricultural landscape are vast pits containing concrete foundations and dense fields of rebar submerged in water. What remains of a new state capital imagined for 3.2 million people was a city interrupted only years after its inception.
